2002-2003 League Week 5
In Division I joint leaders Allsorts and Atletico both had fairly emphatic wins to stay together on eight points, although Allsorts have a game in hand. The other games were all much closer. Telstars, who were 10 points up at half time, just held on to beat Chester Army by a point, Red Lion, who had all four players in double figures, were a little too strong for Rising Sons, while Waterloo Sunset, playing with just two, went down to another narrow defeat, this time by Hogshead Chestnuts.
In Division II Ovalytes join Broken Hearts at the top with six points, although Broken Hearts have two games in hand. Animals, who also have two games on Ovalytes, are handily placed in joint third with four points.
This week saw the first two full houses of the season. Almost inevitably one went to Kevin Ashman, making one of his now fairly infrequent appearances for Allsorts. Let's hope we see more of Kevin this season (although perhaps not when Allsorts play Atletico again). The other was achieved by Patrick Hurley of Ovalytes in their victory over TROGs. Congratulations to both. Top score of the week however was by John McDonnell of Bread & Roses, who scored an impressive 27 points, but sadly for him in a losing cause.
