2003-2004 League Week 18
Although this was technically the last week of the League season, one issue, the League title, remains unresolved. This awaits the result of next week's rearranged game between Bread & Roses and Allsorts.
In Division I Allsorts and Crown & Anchor both won to stay locked together at the top. Allsorts had a surprisingly narrow win over already relegated Waterloo Sunset, while Crown & Anchor won more comfortably against Chester Army. Third placed Atletico continued their recent poor form, going down to Broken Hearts. Sadly for Broken Hearts winning their last two games wasn't enough, both Animals and Bread & Roses also won, sending the Broken Hearts straight back down to Division II. Animals had a close win over Telstars, while Bread & Roses, despite only having three players, edged out Rising Sons. Barry Scott of Bread & Roses had the Division's best score with 22 points. As the Bread seem to do better when players short (they beat Telstars with just two players), Allsorts must be hoping they will be at full strength tomorrow.
In Division II Hogshead Chestnuts overwhelmed Uncosy to clinch promotion back to Division I. Tony Allen's 22 for the Chestnuts was not only the best in the Division, and joint best of the night in the League, but also included a full house. A Willerton-inspired Rosslyn Park proved too strong for Ovalytes, who just miss out on promotion for the second successive season. Finally Jay H Seedy left their promotion challenge a little late, and despite beating TROGs finish the season bottom of the League.
