2003-2004 League Week 2
Some close results this week, with Atletico and Rosslyn Park both winning by one point. For Atletico, Brian Wright's inspired "Rosemary Clooney" on the last question put us ahead for the first time in the game. Gavin Fuller top scored this week with 23, while two teams - Barbican and Chester Army - had all four players in double figures.
In Division I Atletico, Chester Army and Rising Sons share the top spot with two wins each. Animals, Bread & Roses and Waterloo Sunset have yet to register a win. An interesting game in Chiswick, where a three-man Crown & Anchor beat a two-man Allsorts. And Broken Hearts, in losing to Telstars, have lost a League game for the first time.
Uncosy find themselves in the unusual position of joint leaders in Division II, together with Barbican and Ovalytes. Barbican have now recruited Tony Lawrence (ex Quizzlings and Waterloo Sunset), and look an impressive side. Their opponents Jay H Seedy had the reverse of Barbican's achievement - four players none of whom made double figures. In their victory over TROGs, Tony Sherwood posted 21 points for Ovalytes, the best in Division II. Newcomers Snail have yet to record a point, but won't come much closer than this week's 37-38 defeat by old hands Rosslyn Park.
There were two father and daughter appearances in Division II, the Frosts for TROGs and the Willertons for Rosslyn Park. (In due course Atletico should be able to field a complete father and daughters side, but as my youngest, Isobel, was three this week, we have a while to wait).
* this match was played but, because Maximum Dom disbanded after week 2, it was erased from history - it anyone still has a note of the score, it can be restored
